Mainstay Builders provides information and a free service that helps connect homeowners in the United States with independent general contractors for new construction, additions, structural work, and major renovations. By using this site, submitting a form, calling, or otherwise contacting us, you agree to use the site lawfully and only for personal, household, or property-related purposes. You agree not to misuse the site, interfere with its operation, submit false or misleading information, impersonate another person, or use the service to collect leads or market your own services without permission.

You should provide accurate contact and project information so we can try to match you appropriately. If your information changes, you are responsible for updating it. We may limit, suspend, or stop access to the site or service at any time if we believe there is misuse, fraud, spam, abusive behavior, security risk, or any activity that could harm users, contractors, or Mainstay Builders.

The matching service

Our role is to help connect you with independent contractors who may be able to bid on or discuss your project. We are not a contractor, subcontractor, architect, engineer, construction manager, public adjuster, attorney, insurer, lender, or licensed building professional. Any contractor you speak with is an independent business, not our employee, agent, partner, or representative for your project.

A match is not a recommendation, guarantee, certification, endorsement, or promise that a contractor is the right fit for your job. Availability varies by location, project type, timing, and contractor capacity. We may not be able to match every request. Even if we share one or more contractor contacts with you, you are solely responsible for interviewing them, checking references, confirming they are licensed, bonded, and insured where required, reviewing their experience, and deciding whether to sign a contract.

• Always verify state and local licensing before signing any agreement.
• Ask for proof of current insurance and, where applicable, bond coverage.
• Review the written contract carefully, including scope, payment schedule, change orders, and cleanup.
• Do not rely only on verbal promises. Get important details in writing.
• Compare more than one licensed, bonded, and insured contractor when possible.

Mainstay Builders may use the information you provide, such as your name, contact details, address, and project description, to try to connect you with suitable contractors. Please do not submit sensitive information that is not needed for a contractor match, including Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, or immigration status. If language support matters to your household, you may tell us your preferred language so we can try to make communication easier, but we do not guarantee service in any specific language.

We do not promise that you will receive a certain number of bids, a certain price, permit approval, financing, insurance coverage, a project start date, or a finished result. Your contract, payment schedule, warranties, and dispute terms will be between you and the contractor or other service professional you choose.

Your decisions, contracts, and responsibilities

You are responsible for deciding whether to contact, interview, hire, or pay any contractor. You are also responsible for reviewing all proposals, checking references, confirming credentials, understanding permit responsibilities, and reading every contract before signing. If a contractor says something conflicts with your local code office, insurer, lender, HOA, or another licensed professional, you should resolve that issue directly before moving forward.

Any agreement for design, demolition, construction, structural work, change orders, payment, financing, warranty, cleanup, schedule, inspections, or dispute resolution is strictly between you and the contractor or other third party. Mainstay Builders is not a party to those agreements and is not responsible for performance, delays, workmanship, property damage, injuries, code compliance, payment disputes, lien claims, permit problems, or project outcomes.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Mainstay Builders and its owners, staff, affiliates, and service providers are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to your use of the site, your use of the matching service, your inability to obtain a match, your communications with any contractor, or any project, contract, payment, delay, defect, injury, loss, or dispute involving a third party.

This limitation applies even if we provide general information, attempt to facilitate a connection, or fail to make a successful match. Some states do not allow certain liability limitations, so parts of this section may apply only to the extent permitted by law. If you have a dispute with a contractor or another third party, you agree that Mainstay Builders is not responsible for that dispute.

Changes to these terms and contact

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time by posting a revised version on this site. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining parts will continue to apply to the fullest extent allowed by law.
